Round 7 Conducted Report
In the words of Porky Pig — “That’s all folks!”
The final round of the 2025 Trials UK Ltd, Horsforth Trials Club Conducted Trial was held at the amazing BUMPY Trials Park. The extreme rain a few days before certainly made for interesting ground, yet we were thankful on the day for clear skies, no rain, and it wasn’t actually that cold.
Fourteen of our Shires’ finest young riders were presented with lots of mud and some great stream sections, all tackled superbly by these future stars. Being the final round, there was certainly some tension going into the day with some of the routes battling for final points.
White (Easy) Route
We had three newcomers taking on the tricky terrain, and they quickly stamped their mark and put pressure on our regulars.
1st Place: Newcomer Albert Walsh, dropping 15 marks. A tricky start, but he clearly relaxed into the day.
2nd Place: Newcomer Harlow Barker, only 5 marks behind with 20 dropped. A superb ride, with two 5’s from that silly rolling-back rule meaning first place was easily within reach.
3rd Place: Jude Horner, only 3 marks behind, with Section 1 in the stream and 3 up on the banking being his nemesis sections.
Outstanding riding from all five riders on this route.
Yellow (Middle) Route
Only two riders today.
1st Place: Freddie Moore, getting stronger each trial on his Beta 80. Looking at his tall, strong Yorkshire dad, it won’t be long before the Beta 80 will be like a little toy in his hands. He finished the day on 20 marks, with half of those coming from just missing flags. Still, a strong ride and great things to come.
2nd Place: Oliver Clark, improving lap by lap, though Section 1 wasn’t his friend with three consecutive 5’s — yet he would not be defeated, taking a clean on the 4th lap.
50/50 Route
1st Place: Mason Baxter, who was on fire with great bike skills, finishing with only 19 marks dropped. The 50/50 route really shows its benefit in supporting riders moving up to the Red ‘Hard’ route.
2nd Place: Henry Coldwell with 30 marks dropped, having issues on the Ride Red Section 5 rocks. A great ride and plenty learned.
3rd Place: Quickly getting to grips with his Beta 80, moving away from the Oset. With 40 marks dropped, the deep, grip less Batley mud of Section 6 took the majority of his marks.
Red (Hard) Route
This is where the action of the day was. Tom Mitchell and Benjamin Swainson came in battling for final points, being so close. Yet Maisie Danes and Joshua Bancroft were right there to put the cat amongst the pigeons.
1st Place: Benjamin, having (in my opinion) the ride of his life. He was on absolute Toni Bou serum! Double blips, splats, getting his weight on the back end at the right time up a slab — frankly World Round–level viewing. Finishing on only 6 marks shows his commitment.
So the big question… where did Tom Mitchell place?
2nd Place is the answer — and not far ahead of 3rd Place Maisie Danes. Exciting to watch! Tom finished on 16 marks, with Section 6 (the Batley bog again!) taking most of them.
3rd Place: As spoiled above — Maisie took it by 2 marks with 21 dropped, after a close day between her and Joshua.
Another year passes, and it’s been heart-warming to see not only an increase in entries into conducted trials for Horsforth Trials Club, but also across our Yorkshire Centre.
We’ve seen all our young riders progress hugely through the year and be well represented at Trial GB level. Even outside of trials — at Bainbridge Hillclimb and even on TV — we’ve been represented. It’s been a year to remember, and it’s all down to our committed, superstar young riders.
Don’t forget: Sunday 7th, Bradford Trials Club Yorkshire Centre Trial at Skyrakes. Horsforth are supporting this by marking out, so it’ll be the same level and format as our club trials. Get your entries in!
On behalf of myself, Chris Mitchell, Joe Dykes and the club — a monumental thank you to all of you for supporting the club series.
As always, all feedback is welcome; this is your club. Anything you’d like to see more of, or anywhere you’d like to see improvement, please let myself or Chris Mitchell know and we can consider it and present it to the committee.
Thank you to Nige Pearson and Nick Cox at Trials UK for another year of great support with the series.
Thank you to Martin Fairburn for rapid results and another year of support with Sport 80 alongside Graham Wilson
A forever-grateful thank you to all our landowners for allowing this amazing sport to continue.
Have a great Christmas — hope Santa brings everything you’ve wished for.
See you all in 2026.
