🌞 HDMC Rebecca Hoare Memorial Trial – Main Trial Event Report 🌞
Parkwood Off-Road Centre was at its absolute best on Saturday, with dry ground and wall-to-wall sunshine setting the scene for a brilliant day of trials.
A fantastic turnout across all classes made for a competitive and enjoyable trial, with sections that tested riders throughout the course – rewarding consistency, control, and smart line choice.
🏆 Hard Route
* Richard Mellon took the overall win in the Intermediate class with a superb ride on just 9 marks lost.
* In the Novice class, Sam Boocock secured victory on 16, followed by Anthony Ayrton (26) and Jamie Jackson (38).
* Arran Sherwin rounded out the top five in a tough opening route.
🔥 Strong Performances Across the Classes
Clubman A saw an incredibly tight battle at the top:
* John Bellwood took the win on 8 marks, just ahead of Steven Fowler (9)
* Michael Croisdale and Paul Jackson both finished on 13, showing how close it was
* Errol Brown (14) and Joshua Tate (top B Class rider with 17) also delivered standout rides
Further down the field, solid rides from Haydn Oliver (18), Michael Winstanley (23) and Jeffrey Prior (23) kept the pressure on, with only small margins separating many positions.
👊 Big Entry, Big Effort for Clubman B
One of the largest classes of the day saw:
* Jonathan Waterhouse produced one of the rides of the day, winning with just 2 marks lost
* Thomas Green topped the Twinshock class on 3
* Graham Illingworth (4) and Chris Manby / Nick Eagleton (5) were close behind
Consistency was key across this route, with many riders keeping scores in single figures early on before being caught out by later laps.
💪 Low Scores & Clean Riding on Clubman C
* Jonathan Wilkinson took the win with an incredible 1 mark lost
* Michael Kettlewell (6) and Steve Jackson (10) completed the podium
* Joshua Bancroft led the B Class on 17
* Peter Russell topped Twinshock on 23
Great rides too from Neil Fleming (39), while youth riders Benjamin Swainson and Lily Oliver both showed determination in tricky conditions.
🙌 Big Thanks
A huge thank you goes out to:

Conducted Trial Report
The sun was beaming at Parkwood and the ground was dry— you wouldn’t be wrong in thinking you were riding out in Spain with the Hemmos! ☀️🇪🇸
Chris Bancroft and Chris Mitchell set out 6 sections for our young riders, designed to both test ability and give something to take away and practice. Not a single rider had all failures on any section, proving that every section was achievable—brilliant effort from all 19 riders. Well done everyone 👏
White Route:
Albert Walsh took the win on just 15 marks dropped, with most lost on Section 6—closest to the butty van! Maybe the smell of sausage and bacon was a bit too distracting 😄
Harrison “Smiler” Cockshott followed closely in 2nd on 20 marks, again with Section 6 proving costly. A hungry group by the final laps perhaps!
Ivy Inman secured 3rd place with 29 marks dropped.
Yellow Route:
The biggest class of the day with 8 riders.
Max Greenwood took the win with an excellent ride, dropping just 8 marks. A superb performance and clearly showing promise for a move up to 50:50.
Only 1 mark behind, Jack Fawcett finished 2nd on 9 marks, with Sections 3, 5 and 6 accounting for all his marks. Great to see every section cleaned—strong riding 👊
Billy Carter took 3rd. An unlucky day in some respects—clean all day apart from unfortunate failures on Sections 1 and 3, plus a 2 on Section 6. Aside from that, a faultless ride. Great to see your progression Billy 👏
50:50 Route:
Just one rider in this class, with others recently moving up to Red.
Henry Coldwell recovered well after going over the bars on Section 6 to finish on a respectable 27 marks. Good determination to carry on 💪
Red Route:
Mason Baxter took the win—and possibly ride of the day—on just 20 marks dropped. Two late failures on Section 3 were unlucky, especially after earlier cleaning it. Great to see the sections were there to be mastered.
Tom Mitchell finished 2nd on 34 marks. A few off-cambers proved tricky, but this will no doubt fuel some focused practice—Tom will come back stronger.
Adam Carter claimed 3rd after a strong ride, with Section 3 proving costly, accounting for 20 of his marks. Rock steps look to be the homework this week!
All in all, it was fantastic to see 19 happy riders taking on the challenge with grit, determination, and plenty of smiles 😃
A huge thank you to all observers for making the day possible and keeping everything running smoothly.
Thank you to the landowners for the use of such a superb venue.
Thanks to Martin for getting the results out on the same day, and to all committee members working behind the scenes to make these events happen.
And finally, thank you to Chris Bancroft and Chris Mitchell for all the hard work in setting out and organising the Conducted Trial.
